- We’ve posed this question on our web site for years: “The bridge across the Puyallup River at Clarks Creek is called the Melroy Bridge. Does anyone know who Melroy was?”
Turns out the correct spelling is Milroy. The bridge was dedicated in 1931 and named for George Milroy, a Native American who farmed in the area.
- Tacoma Mayor Bill Baarsma is on a quest to find photos of all of Tacoma’s former mayors. Two have eluded him -- Jacob Mann and Samuel Wheelwright. If you can help, let us know at info@tacomahistory.org.
- Thomas Heindel is seeking to document the many motion picture theaters that once dotted the Tacoma scene. Anyone with photos is asked to contact him at (253) 759-5314 or e-mail him at tomheindel@yahoo.com
