Veterans Day Observance
Day of Remembrance: Veterans Day Service
Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 11am
War Memorial Park
All are welcome
Tacoma Historical Society has sponsored a remembrance ceremony, honoring the veterans of our nation, for the past 11 years. The 2018 observance, our 12th annual, will mark the centennial of the armistice which ended World War I, or "The War to End All Wars." This ceremony is the only such observance of Veterans Day in the City of Tacoma, and we are proud to be a part of it.
We are assisted in the ceremony by several other local organizations, ncluding Joint Base Lewis McChord, VFW Posts, American Legion Posts, and the Washington Army National Guard at Camp Murray. The 593rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command, under the leadership of Brigadier General James Moore, and their Public Affairs Officer, Captain Jennie Armstrong, have been especially helpful in their assistance with this observance, as well as with the Memorial Day ceremony each year.
This year’s event will, as always, be held at War Memorial Park, in Tacoma, at 11:00 a.m., and will end promptly at 12:00 noon. All are welcome, and there is no admission charge.
